Silver Spurs in NYC makes a pretty decent burger. I usually get jalapenos and a fried egg on it. One closed down and the other really scaled back the menu. They used to offer around 200 types/combos. Still, pretty good. And you can order it how you like, unlike shit-shack which gives you the same greasy mess every time.

Wow really? I like Burgerfi so much better than Five Guys. Maybe all of the Five Guys joints in CT are just crummy...hmm.

I agree with you and prefer the BurgerFis around here to the Five Guys

Five Guys reminds me of Sonic hamburgers, not my favorite. I do love those Five Guys Fries though. The Pharmacy, a local Nashville burger place has good burgers as well as Gabby's.

Most of the better burger places are overpriced. To be frank, nothing tops a BK whopper. And it is the lowest cost.
Troll post?
Want a good burger? Make 1/3 pound patties out of ground chuck. Mix salt and pepper into the grind and hand mix. Then make patties. Then lightly salt them and pan fry them or use a griddle on the grill. Top with cheese and serve on toasted kaiser of your preference. The patties should be flat before grilling. Maybe a 5" diameter. They will be lesser diameter and thicker once grilled.

Better yet, grind the chuck on your own and add in some bacon.
I'm making patty melts for dinner tomorrow night, and they will be delicious.
Whataburger is in Birmingham Alabama and Jackson Mississippi too. Could be other places, but those two for sure. We have people that drive 3+ hours to go to Whataburger. The one in Jackson was horrible, but I was told the ones out west were waaaayyy better.
Three hour drive to go to a burger joint? D:

There's a huge gulf between F5 and Sonic burgers... I mean, I suppose that doesn't mean they can't remind you of Sonic burgers, but they're quite different.

Ya, my BK comment was a bit of a troll post but it is honestly how I feel. If I spend over $10 on a burger and fries and a coke I usually just get mad that I didn't go to Burger King. Seriously, Five Guys is not that good. I don't comprehend the love for the place.

Shake Shack though can be good. I've ben to two locations. One provided the best burger ever (near the Natural History Museum in NYC). The other wasn't so hot (near Yale). I will say that he NYC burger I had was one of the best ever that I had.

chuck is good but experimenting with other cuts of meats makes it even better. when I had a food truck we had a butcher grind us a blend of chuck/brisket/short-rib. Man I miss that truck sometimes.

I am going to have to get a meat grinder so I can experiment with other blends here and there. People here should do that and post their results with different cuts of meat. I've been wondering if adding some ground flank or skirt steak would work - since they have such a beefy flavor to them as steaks. Can't hurt to try.

if im eating by myself, I would never spend $10 for lunch.

McD's McDouble used to be my best bang for the buck lunch.
then they raised the price from $1 to $1.50. :(

now a slice of Costco's combo pizza for $2 or 1/4lb hotdog + soda for $1.50 FTW!

hm.. just saw a commercial for McDouble + small fries for $2.
is McD paying the NSA to datamine for them? scary... :p

So, they finally opened one near me and I went. For two people two single burgers, two fries, and one shake was damn near $30. It wasn't $30 good. It wasn't terrible, but it was just okay. Epic Burger is better IMO.
