Its come towards that time of year where I am working on my lawn. I have this large shade tree that blocks a good bit of sunlight from a 10 foot by 4 foot section of lawn. The rest of the lawn looks decent considering water restriction and a very hot summer. Does anyone have any suggestions on type of grass and how to work around my problem? Thanks broskis.

In my lawn the most lush areas are under the shade of my large oak trees. ???

I'd mulch it and put down a mix of shade-tolerant plants. Hostas, some Hydrangeas, Deadnettle, etc. For ground cover, my favorite is Vinca Minor.

Don't bother with the grass.

I have one patch of grass under the large oak in my front yard that I like much more than the rest of my grass. It grows more slowly, and it's softer/finer, feels great on bare feet. I should take a pic so someone can identify it for me, I'd love to have a whole lawn of the stuff.

Perhaps you can plant a type of grass that likes low light. It can naturally blend in with the current grass.
