I picked up an old tire machine a couple of months ago for a sweet price

The problem is is uses plastic fittings for everything. And over time, this has happened to several of them

Right now I'm dealing with one under the turntable. I can get to it, but I have no way of repairing it. And by getting to it, I mean I can see it with 3 mirrors and 2 flashlights

The leak is on the lower coupling, right against the frame of the machine. There's literally no room to move around in there

I'm thinking: whip up a small batch of JB weld, jam it into the crack as best as possible then clamp it with some vise grips. When it dries, run a tap through it to clean the threads.

Now you know why you got it for a great price.

Can't you pull the entire machine apart and replace the defective plastic parts?

Previous owner passed away and wife wanted it out of the basement. I wanted it because it came with the motorcycle adapters already installed ($400 add on).

I don't trust myself enough to properly break the machine down and re-assemble it. There are zero service manuals and only an old scan of a parts manual. The replacement part is 1/3 the cost of what I paid ($700)

ebay or craigslist have any parts? Have you priced out replacement parts from the manufacturer?

What? A shop with all those tools and equipment in it and that's how you feel? I mean if you do, you do but it seems a bit unusual.

I don't think JB Weld is going to be a good solution. What would really be good would be an epoxy that works specifically with the type of material you're dealing with. Slather it in, clamp it up and tap it, just like you said. The problem with plastics is finding the proper bonding material. So many different types of plastics. I guess if the JB Weld doesn't work you're no worse off than you were.
