SH6 problem?

I recently bought the Abit SH6 board, and I'm not sure if this is a problem, but I cant get to tick the altra DMA setting in device manager under hard drives and cd roms...( the box is not there!) Now I have installed the drivers from the disk, so, is this right?
Also, there is a small nick in the ATA ribbon cable that came with the board, is this a problem?
 
If you are referring to the tiny hole in the cable that is a normal feature of most ATA66/100 cables.. dont sweat that.
 
What OS are you using? The DMA settings are different between Win9x and 2000. Also have you installed the latest Intel Chipset INF drivers and the Ultra ATA drivers. These should be on the CD that came with your mobo. They also can be found here at Intel. They are on the right side under the Driver Downloads.
