I'm thinking of building a new SFF for my primary PC. I'm currently running a P4 3.0 w/ht (was the 2003 Intel Retail Edge Program), 1gig DDR, ATI9800pro 128, Plextor DVDRW, noname CDRW. This is all in a Lian-Li PC68b case which has 2 filtered intakes, 2 exhaust fans in a window, 1 blowhole up top, 1 exhaust fan in the back (all controlled by a rheobus in the front) and an enermax quiet power supply.

I have decided that I don't need this large of a case / setup and a SFF case would be a good choice because I can't remember the last time I even used my second CD drive and I just don't need the massive expandablilty that I have in my current case and definately don't need that many fans in a system. I am a gamer and enjoy many of the latest games (will be picking up Doom3 shortly) thus I enjoy a powerful system.

I have a couple options, I could either scavange the processor from my current system (I will be taking the dvdrw anyways) and build on that setup or I could start from scratch with a new processor. What do you recommend for a SFF PC? I will be putting in my ATI videocard from my current system but will probably use the onboard nic and audio on whatever new system I get.

What do you suggest for a setup?

Thank you.

i really enjoy my shuttle b/c it's the original SFF company. they are always making new products and working to improve. you'll be fine with a shuttle with the 250watt silentx power supply. it'll be able to handle the parts you have so far.

it only has one fan but the heatpipe cooling is very good and works fine. the fan is a little noisy but you can control the speed with speedfan or buy a quieter fan.

also, forums.sudhian.com has the biggest SFF forums on the web. you'll be able to find out all the info you want about all the different SFF options you have. i suggest asking specific questions you may have on that forum.
