So, every year, the asylum is let loose and the inmates run amok through the streets of San Francisco. They start from the Eastern edge of The City, and end up on the Western shores. Some of them don't make it, as a lot are often inebriated along the way.

It's a fun, colorful event, which is a race where people are dressed up in anyways they like as participants, some chose to forgo the formality of any costumes, at all. Don't worry, I don't have any of those linked here, so this is all SFW.

It was unfortunate that my battery died quite early, but I did manage to grab some photos. Enjoy.

I'm only posting some, the rest are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/79629041@N06/sets/72157633537026184/show/

Even the Queen of England came to participate, and of course, she brought the cheerleader, to save the world.

I was there today and the past 2 years. The turn out was a lot lower this year compared to before. I think it's ~30k compared to 60-100k before!

Thats a heck of a drop. How much do you think would be from Boston imitation and how much from tightened restrictions?

There are still people running in the nudes, believe me, you don't want to see them.

I thought they banned the nudes?

I do a lot of marathons and ultras, and there's always a few people that have some amazing bodies. Fit and healthy people means attractive body types.

Actually, it does. While most of the participants are just doing it for the fun of it, there are elite runners that finish a few hours ahead of the rest of the crowd, and there are actual cash prizes just like every other races. Usually someone from Ethiopia or Kenya would win the race, in both men and women category.

Don't forget SF is also the capitol of fitness, I think...

In a nutshell, if there's a cash prize, elite level runners will be out there. :p

But, you don't have to be an elite runner to look good.
