Finally saved up enough for an 120GB SSD but after doing more research im not sure if i should get a SF-1200 or C300 based SSD now
or wait for intels latest G3 SSDs as 160GB would be perfect and will allow me to dual boot and still install some games on my SSD and the intel controller is likely to be far superior to the others

are they still 100% coming out in Q4 2010?

i dont mind waiting another 3 months or so if they will be out by late nov/dec

Thanks

I think that's the plan, yeah. I'm in the same position as you, waiting a couple months to get a better deal.

A word to the wise: Do you really want to be an 'early adopter' of new technology? I know that they 'should' have all the bugs worked out but remember the G1s......

I do not think a G3 device (and 2+ years later) is classified as "early adopter".

Now if you are talking about being an early adopter of the G3 specifically, then I guess that can be said with ANY technology. I just hope Intel learned from G1/G2 so that G3 will be very good from the start.

No, not confirmed. Always take it with a grain of salt. But it does confirm what most other rumors have been pointing to.

Early adoption "bleeding edge" for SSDs was back before 2008, now they're more "cutting edge mainstream".

Since he meant that in respect to the G3 drives, I think he has a point. I think we all agree that those will have a new controller and so far almost every new controller had some problems (Intel is actually a perfect example for that)

The G3 in Q4 seems like a safe bet, but will they have enough 25nm capacity?
