The reason the Airforce didn't buy the F-23 wasn't corporate welfare.
Both planes had similar performance as far as super cruise ability and stealth.
The F-23 had a nasty habit of generating visible wingtip vortices during high G turns that the F-22 didn't.

Bah, nothing compared to the Avro Arrow in its time. The americans barely had Mach 1 while the Arrow could do Mach 2.

My first vote would go for the A-10..Saw one flying over highway 80(i think) in Iowa/Nebraska. My god that was pretty and silent. He was about 100-250 ft above the ground just crusing along doing the occasional low speed acrobatics...That was pretty..
Second...The AC-130 Specte in its orginal form with the 4 miniguns and the rear mounted cannon...THe 40mm bourfors(sp) are nice, but i was partial to the idea of the mini-guns...

How dare you all ignore the F-15. America's most multi-purpose jet. For being as old as it is, the F-15 is still one of the best pieces of equipment we have, with some of the most versatile loadouts of any plane. I love that thing, it roxors my boxors!

definitely an f4 phantom, but looks like its in recon form w/ a photo pod mounted under the nose

It's actually the electronic warfare F-4G Phantom. The F-4E Phantom had the same nose fairing, but instead of ECM jamming equipment, the F-4E had an internal Vulcan cannon that was sorely missing from earlier F-4s.
