Sex scene in movies

Do you think in today movies, there are too much sex scene?

In some movie, the sex scene just seem to be thrown in for the heck of having a sex scene. Why? (one movie I remember is "Monster Ball") It just don't go with the storyline.

And when is sex scene become too much? In some movies, they goes as far as showing a rape scene.

The Gods must be crazy
Lost in Translation

I think lots of movies have pointless sex scenes. What exactly did it add to "Matrix Reloaded" for example. (Not that it's a good movie anyway).

Ugh...the cave rave just before that, combined with the sex scene, made for the worst 10 min of film I've viewed in the last 10 years.

Yeh I have run into this also. Such as "Taking Lives" sure we get to see some of Angelina, but it seems as though the director was thinking "Crap we're running near the end of the movie, Angelina! get naked."

actually i thought it fit into monster's ball very well.

though i don't really see the problem of throwing in a sex scene just for the sake of having one.

There's nothing wrong with a good sex scene, specially when you're on a date with your woman. It gets you both thinking "Hey, Sex?"

there's not enough x rated sex in movies. more violence, more sex.

Yep, I agree. The one that jumps to mind is Band of Brothers.

There was NO need to show the sex scene in the 8th episode. In fact, it seemed totally out of place.

Why is it there?

Or the sex scene at the start of Three Kings. It served no purpose either.

back in the day when a movie was going nowhere they would throw in a chase scene to save it, hence the term 'cut to the chase'

soon it will be 'cut to the sex'

that actually had some relevance in the movie as them having sex caused her to get pregnant, which lured in the killer/father...which led him to get caught
