Severe Video Corruption (help please!)

Okay - my friend is running a eVGA GTX 280. We were playing either Call of Duty or World of Warcraft one day when his screen just went black for a few seconds. After that it seemed to be fine for a while. When he started his PC the next morning he received severe video corruption. He contacted eVGA for a replacement and they sent him a new GTX 280. All seemed to be fine for a while and then he started receiving the same corruption issues. We both thought that maybe his PSU was giving unstable voltages under load so he went to Best Buy and bought a 850w Thermaltake PSU. All issues seemed to be fixed once again but upon a cold boot he received the same video corruption. We then thought that maybe the PCI-E slot was bad so he switched it to the second PCI-E slot on his motherboard and it still gets the video corruption.

It is important to note that when he puts in his old 7950 GX2 card, no video corruption issues are present.

Here is a snapshot:

The only things I can see is that the old PSU fried the new video card before he could get the new PSU or the motherboard is bad altogether.

Any other suggestions or some solid solutions are very welcome at this point. We are completely out of ideas at this point.

Thanks so much for any and all help! If anyone needs more information, let me know!

He now has no video output with the 7950 GX2 or the GTX 280. He can hear Windows 7 load so his computer is posting just fine, just no video output whatsoever.

Id try a new mobo for testing purposes. They get flakey sometimes.

All the cables look fine from what he tells me. He uses a DVI to VGA adapter for a small LCD and uses a DVI to HDMI adapter for his main screen.

can you replicate the display issues with another computer using the monitor?

have you done a few basic checks like resetting the CMOS battery, RAM DIMMs, and reconnecting all cables/components?
