So past few days I've had a sore throat. Yesterday, it was on par with other times I've had strep. I also had a low-grade fever. Then it all of a sudden dropped to very mild pain and this morning I no longer have a fever. It just seems bizarre to me that such a severe sore throat would suddenly stop in the the middle of the day that it's making me worry slightly.

something must be going around, because you're describing exactly how I've been feeling these last few days. mine went away the other day only briefly and has since returned with a vengeance and hasn't let up yet. 🙁

I don't think I've ever come across someone who sought medical attention because they were concerned that they suddenly felt well.

That being said, if you think you may have strep pharyngitis, then you should be evaluated for treatment. The disease itself is self-limiting, but there are uncommon complications (rheumatic fever, peritonsilar abscess) that you don't want to mess with.

I had something similar a couple weeks ago. Same as Awkward happened -sore throat for a few days with fever, then it went away for one day and came back with a vengeance dominating me for a week and a half with the worst congestion I've ever had in my life. Took 2 weeks to feel 90% and finally feel like I could hit the gym again.

Edit: I suggest you rest up and try to prevent what happened to Awkward and I.

I'd suggest allergies, but those types of sore throats are not commonly severe.

I had sporadic sore throats last year but it was caused by reflux, and I don't think I ever had a fever associated.
