Several Super Lanboy questions.

1. DOes the entire front bezel just pop off? Looks that way in the instructions but I want to make sure I don't break anything.

2. My gigabyte mobo has two different USB connections on the pcb. They are F_USB1 and F_USB2. The Super Lanboy only has one connector for both front usb ports. Can I just hook it into either slot on the mobo?

3. The case has an LED two pin wire. I don't see anything on the mobo to accomodate this. It already has a HD LED. Closest I can guess is that it has a connector called Message LED/Power/Sleep LED. Any chance that would be it?

I'm sure I'll have some more questions. Thanks for the help.

EDIT. The mobo is here.

I have that case.
1. Yes, you have to unscrew 6 screws from the inside - you need a long neck screwdriver because the 5.25" bays block access to the top screws if you have a small screwdriver.

2. My Superlanboy has two lighty grey/vanilla colored wires with a piece of tape on it denoting USB 1 and USB2. Just match up the wires as per your mobo manual

3. Mine has a Turbo two pin wire. You dont use it. It is useless.
There should be sepearate Power,Reset,HDD,Powerled wires.

Thanks for the help.

Regarding question #2. Mine also has the two individual USB wires but they join at one black connector. My mobo has two slots that this black connector could go into (F_USB1 and F_USB2.) I was just wondering if the two front USB on the case will work no matter which of the two places I plug into the mobo.

Hope that makes sense.

Just choose one, should work fine. USB uses four wires. A "typical" motherboard pinout is:

* * * * *
* * * * º

This will support two ports (without using a hub). Your motherboard has two different blocks of these pins, meaning it can support FOUR ports.

Mine must be an older revision of the case since the USB 1 and 2 lines are fully disconnected. But as per what Zap said, he speaks the truth.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Another question for you. Exactly how is the hard drive suppose to mount to the drive rail plate (or whatever it's called)? There is one or two tiny screw holes in the side of it that will not take a screw of the size the HD needs. Am I missing something? Am I suppose to drill the hole out bigger?

Thanks.

I called Antec support and the guy told me that you mount the hard drive to the plate from the bottom of the plate. I'm not at home now so can anyone confirm this for me?
I can't believe I would have overlooked holes in the bottom of the plate. He also said there are some special longer screws for this.

thanks for any help./

Pull out the racks and look at the rubber mounts. They have holes in the middle for the special screws that the case came with (short screws with a really wide built in washer). Put the hard drive on the rack (I put mine in with the front facing the non-door side of the case so my wires would be hidden) and line up the mounting holes on the underside of the hard drive with the holes in the rubber mounts. This screw in from the bottom approach isolates all the vibrations due to the rubber mounts.

thanks spike. that does make sense. I guess I missed the holes because of the rubber grommets. At least that's what makes me feel better. haha

Regarding the screws. Can you use them to mount the mobo to the case? I think that's where I may have used some of mine.

You probably could use them to mount your mobo and if so, you might want to remove them. They have a very large built in metal washer that probably overhangs that insolated metal ring around the screw holes. With the normal mobo screws, their smaller built in washers do not overhang so you have less chances of shorting.

It should be fairly easy to unscrew them and put the right screws in, just use a longer screw driver. As the case comes with 12 (I believe) special hard drive screws, you could leave any in place you might have put into your mobo, but in my opinion it is not worth the risk.

I got this case a few days ago from CompUSA. I cannot find a connector for the case speaker to hear beeps if there is any problems during boot.

Is there no case speaker in this case?

As far as I can tell, it does not have a pc speaker. Just hook it up right so you don't have to worry about the beeps :)

It seems like you are right. I just did not want to be the only one who got this case with no speaker.

Now, I am happy.

lol, yah, I had the same thoughts when I built mine. I was like "hmmm, I am missing something here as there are some bare pins on my mobo that don't seem right..." Later I figured out it was the speaker, kinda nice for me as all it ever did was beep loudly when the comp started up. Hopefully I can figure out any future problems without the aid of the beep codes...
