Several OEM Questions

I searched this forum, and found many answers, except for:

For OEM HDs, I understand that the connectors (power and data) will be supplied with my retail MB. Howver, what about mounting hardware/fasteners, and drivers for the HD? I'm thinking of getting Hitachi SATA II HDs; if I buy OEM, will I need anything that doesn't come with either the OEM HD or the MB?

For OEM DVD burners: Will all needed cables be included with the MB. Plus, same questions as for OEM HDs.

For OEM Floppy drives: Ditto.

The case should come with the mounting equiptment for all three, and there are no drivers for any of them either. You'll be fine with an OEM equiptment.

QFT. i bought all OEM drives, and i STILL have extra screws and cables from my motherboard. the motherboard driver Cd also came with SATA drivers for the HD's. there is nothing else you will need, aside from a floppy disk.

You'll be fine.

As long as you are buying a retail mobo, you will have more than enough cables & screws to go around.

OEM = great way to save money 🙂

if you need screws, a local PC shop will probably give you some. build a couple systems and you'll have them coming out your ass. sometimes it can be a good idea to get a retail DVD burner just for the software it comes with.

oem is good for floppy/optical/hard drives and even video cards but do not buy oem processors 30day warranty's and are very close in price if not more than retail with 3 year warranty.
