a distributed attack on the Sierpinski problem. The problem deals with numbers of the form N = k2n + 1, for odd k and n > 1. Numbers in this form are called Proth numbers. If, for a particular value of k, every possible choice of n results in a composite (non-prime) Proth number N, that number k is called a Sierpinski number. The Sierpinski Problem asks "what is the smallest Sierpinski number?"

i tried but i don't think it is sending anything back yet, i get a "block return postponed" message, and to finish the whole thing takes a day or so
it might take awhile
also, i read some posts from the project guy on Ars and he said he doesn't have a means to get our old work onto the team yet, so only new work done under the team name will show up for now

I hope someone else joins soon. It is a small project without a lot of participants. I thought we could make a significant inpact on this project if a few people joined and used some of their resources on it. I am currently around #20 for the past 24 hrs with only 1 1ghz p3 that hasn't even been running 24/7. We can move up in the rankings really fast if some people joined. With the small block sizes and near real time stats it is a good project. I have no idea how long it will going on for, but its been up for since march 2002 i believe.

DF is my main DC project, but I'm happy to give you guys a boost. I've got a P4 1.8A@2.61GHz doing a nice 136k cEMs/sec :) Btw, in Windows, it brings my DF client to a near halt, causing it to operate even slower than DF on my PII-350. I'm gonna test it in Linux and see what happens, as it should also improve my performance for both clients (DF is ~30% faster under Linux).

Hmmm...got it running in Linux now. The command line client isn't giving any screen output, so I'm not sure if its running...DF is running fine, but just a tad slower than usual (though still plenty fast), so I guess I'll check my stats in the morning, if nothing has changed, I'll switch to Windows.

I hope to be in last place on the team. That will mean that there are bigger producers than me since i know i can't compete with my single p3 1ghz that isn't even on 24/7

I should be posting the new v0.9.8 *linux* (and FreeBSD) clients online sometime today so those can be used for teams stats too. sorry for the delay for those of you with alt OSes. the good news is that your first submission after switching from v0.9.7 to v0.9.8 will credit all the work you've done so far to your team

your team isn't doing so bad. TeamPrimeRib was putting the hurt on everyone until some big guns came in to help Michigan. Hopefully you guys can pull something together too. :)

Cheers,
-Louie

this is good news, as soon as either of my boxen return thier first full test, i have done SB on/off since spring, so i have some decent work built up on my account ;)

my 1.4 is at 76% and my daughter's 1600+ is at 81% , so by this evening , we should jump up a bit :)

Excellent news, jjjjL :) I'll have to do some more testing on Linux, then, since my DF production went up 30% when running on Linux :D

Sweet. That should put us in third or fourth in test contribution. I uploaded my first test overnight, and am ~15% through my second one. We're also now in fourth in terms of overall contribution :D G

On the Linux client, it keeps saying, "iteration: x0000/237xxxx etc" Is 10k iterations the same as a block?
