I like seven lions. Its the dub step style that doesn't make you want to claw your own eyes out. Some of his remixes of above and beyond are also really good. Check out the remix of a&b you gotta go

I was at edc last year when tritonal dropped that remix at the end of their set for the first time and it was bananas. Still a great remix. I like tritonal but their original version of still with me wasn't super special so seven lions def made that a hit. Still gets played on bpm and enjoyable

While Dubstep is big in Europe and maybe South America, I don't think it caught on in the US. The same is true of trance.

Dubstep in the us is skrillex and all its known by generally and its terrible.

I've been a huge trance fan forever but he's right it hasn't taken off quite to the level of say electro house which is pretty much pop at this point. I remember last year at edc Calvin Harris and avicii and the like would have tons of people gettjng excited and then a legend like Armin comes on and I swear people had no idea who he was.

Its not too bad though really don't want it to be mainstream. Just popular enough to be accessible. Dubstep seems to be popular with the " hard style " crowd which is actually a younger crowd. Seems like the same types who were into metal and punk

Thats the thing.. I hate most dubstep.. most of it is garbage. I really don't consider Seven Lions to be dubstep.. more like Trancestep. But who the hell cares about putting something in a genre.. if it sounds good thats all that matters.

My favorite dj's are Armin, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Dash Berlin. Also love Zed's Dead which is really the only good dubstep out there imo.

It really is sad though in this country that everyone is going ape for Avicii and David Guetta which are both trash imo and then they ask who AVB is.. wtf? I also noticed that the dubstep crowds seem to be young and really disrespectful. Real trance crowds are all love :)

the dubstep / hardstyle crowds seem to be the same crowds that do mosh pits at rock concerts. its all about raging for them. no plur.

at least from my observation. im a big trance fan, though some of the trance guys are kind of cheesing up some of their songs to get some mainstream airplay, but they still put out classic trance.

and yes, the avicii , guetta, calvin harris, tiesto edm that is popular is well its club music and its only good sometimes. its got so much less substance and complexity in it, but it sells to masses. you can only hope it only gets them to search for better music. even a guy like kaskade who actually puts out good progressive house, is not as popular as say guetta whose claim to fame is a 1 key piano sound, and having 10000 collaborations with r&b artists.

you have inbetween type guys who do trancey house like gareth emery, arty, w&w that seem to be bridging that gap somewhat. hell even armin and ferry have put out some "pop" tracks. ferry remixed a bieber track (i do have to say it came out pretty well) and armin has put out some stuff like "we are here to make some noise" and even his latest track "this is how it feels like" are pretty mainstream, but they at least put out some real trance with these pop tracks

but yeah, who cares what it is called, if it sounds good it sounds good. i mean that song from the IE9 commercials by Alex Clare is actaully dubstep also. and its not bad.
