Setup exits to desktop

With some programs, when i try to install them, the setup process starts but exits automatically without any error messages.

This happened when i tried installing the audio drivers and also the drivers for my canon scanner.

My configuration is
Athlon 64 3000+
Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 Uli M1695
Seagate 200GB IDE hard drive
WD 160GB IDE hard drive

I have even reformatted and installed Windowds again, but i still have the same problem.
Can anyone please help?
 
Make sure your processor isn't running too hot and your power supply is adequate. I had a problem with my older TBird Athlon system spontaneously stopping programs, and it was due to heat. I could be completely off base, but its worth checking.
