Hello,

The computer I built last year is getting a little old... And I am going to build a new one. I wanted to know if there are any potential problems with this setup... Here it is:

MSI KT333 MB
Athlon XP 2100+
MSI Geforce 4 TI 4400 128 mb (already have) ---edit---
IBM 75 GXP 7200 RPM 40 GB HD (already have)
Crucial 512 MB PC-2100 RAM
Santa Cruz (Already have)
3COM 905 10/100 NIC (Already Have)
Windows XP Home (Already Have)

What brand of CD drive should I get?
I don't want a RW just like a 52x...
Brand of floppy drive?
Case? Power supply? (Nothing fancy just whatever will work)

since you are getting a kt333 motherboard you might as well get ddr333 mem
if you plan on running the mem at that speed
unless yur certain yur ddr226 stuff can hold that speed

as far as cd drives go they are all pretty similar
just look for a silent one (most name brand ones are)
i just put an asus dvdrom drive in my uncle's comp
and i got an asus cdrom drive in my own system 52x
they are alright
just get the cheepest floppy drive you can find (if you even want one)
i personally prefer antec psu's
get atleast a name brand 350watter for that system
nothing less
as far as cases go that is mostly personal preference and budget

welp have fun

I wouldn't bother upgrading to PC2700 memory. It just will not give you a significant enough performance boost to justify the cost of replacing 512MB of it. Of course, if you have money to throw away... go for it. When it comes to CD-ROMs, just make sure you don't get a noname/generic drive. Sony, Teac, Asus, and Creative Labs all make affordable yet quality drives. The floppy drive simply does not matter, but again you may as well go with a good name brand. I don't know what kind of video card you have, but make sure you get a PSU with at least 300W, though I suggest more. Also, make sure a lot of that wattage is on the 3v and 5v lines, because those are the lines the Athlon likes to use. I own an Enlight 7237 case. It is a pretty good case, and you have the option of getting a 340W PSU with it. There is enough room to comfortably work, although it could be roomier. It will do the job and it is priced well. It is not poorly constructed however.
