Setting V-Sync in applications or Control Panel?

The default setting for V-Sync in Nvidia's Control Panel is "use application setting".

If I want to always have V-Sync on for gaming, should I leave it like this or change the setting here?

If I change the setting in the Nvidia panel, what do I set the option to in game menus?

Except for special cases, you should always use the game's built-in Vsync setting, rather than forcing it in the Nvidia Control Panel.

The exception would be if you want to use adaptive v-sync or the game doesn't have the option built in.
