Setting up VPN to access my network from college

I'm going off to college soon, and I need a way to get back into my home network. I have a Linksys BESFX41 router (firmware 1.45.7) at home, which supports VPN endpoint (or something, I'm not too knowledgeable in this). I'm pretty sure I can use Windows XP Pro's builtin client for accessing the network from college, but what do I need to do to setup the server on this end?

Well you can set up Windows remote Desktop.

Or better Off: Ultr@VNC (Remote Control for your Network/Internet) - Installation, and Settings

I know how to do that already, but I really do need to setup a VPN, which is what I need help with.
