Setting up router for bit torrent

Hey all,
Recently i tried downloading a bt file and the connection speed came up as 1kbps!
It just takes so long after a few hours it has only dloaded 1 mb or so and i cancel it.

Im just wondering what are the steps to enabling my router for bt?

From what a have read i gather i have to:
* Port forward ports 6881 to 6889
* uPnP forward ports 6881 to 6889 (BTW, for this step do i put 6881 in the "ext port" and 6889 in the "int port"?
* Then trigger the same set of ports?

Can somebody clarify this for me? Also what security issues will i run into if i do this?

Thanks.

Ok so i've forward incoming tcp and udp ports 6881 - 6889, and set up my personal firewall accordingly, but can only manage max speeds of around 10 kbs? Now i know bt is supposed to start slow but this is after around 20 mins!

Anyone know what is up?

BTW, if this forum doesn't support discussion of pirate software etc etc then tell me i won't post about this prob anymore.

which bt client are you using?

I use burst!

did you forward them as tcp or udp....MUST BE IN TCP

did you limit your sharing to 0kb/s? You have to share when you are downloading because pure leeching will be very inefficent.

click this site...very informative from the original maker of bit torrent
