Setting up printer in Linux..

hello fellow members...i'm trying to set up a network printer in red hat...however the network printer requires an id/pswd for print jobs...in windows...it can be done by saving the id/pswd within the printer properties...

does anyone know how this can be done in red hat ?

setting up the printer through CUPS, socket://printer_ip😛ort

i manage to to check the printer configuration, but all i see are tray/paper size settings..the usual printer settings...

I think that socket://blah is using the HP JetDirect protocol which I don't think supports a username/password, at least I've never seen a printer that did that.
