I'm just curios with this adventure. I just got in a GTX 670 ftw.. it can probably do physx calculations but I am curios how to use my GTX 480 in conjunction with it. Are there any special things to do first ???

thanks,

:hmm:

No there arent, though its a waste. All it will do is take up more power and add heat and noise. Its 100% useless for physX.

Forget a second card for PhysX. It might even end up slower due to the cross communication and delays. Same reason the PPU card was a disaster.

a gtx480 handling physx would in no way be be slower than than the gtx670 handling both. the issue here is that the gtx480 is a big power hungry card and is not worth it for the rare game that even uses physx. and in between those rare games, the gtx480 would just be sitting there doing nothing so it makes sense just to sell it. also the gtx670 should do a decent job of handling both graphics and physx as long as every setting is not cranked.

my favorite game that uses PhysX is Mirror's Edge, and its totally not worth it to worry about, not that Mirror's Edge will run slow on a single 670 regardless of using PhysX or not...

oh okay. I was not aware that bunnyfubbles was the go to expert and could tell you how much it adds to the game better than any comparison video ever could...

btw I have played both games and what you see in the videos is what you get so decide for yourself...

well when you asked the question, it seemed like you had no idea what physx added to the games so I linked you to the videos. physx is nothing but some visual effects so I dont understand why you cant decide for yourself if those effects are worth or not after watching comparison videos. it is what it is so his opinion does not change what you can see with your own eyes.

I hate ebay but if my card does not sell in the next week then I will have to use it I guess. and yeah there is no way I would use the gtx570 for physx.

When I had my GTX 460 SLI setup it was faster to use the 2nd card for PhysX rather than using it for SLI so I think there will be cases where a PPU would be useful. It was in Batman that this was the case BTW.
