Setting up permanent website on Linksys router

pm

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 running the latest firmware. I have a website that I am running on my home network. It's set up for DHCP to the router and I have forwarded the port to the DHCP assigned address of the machine. This set up works fine except that about once a month, the router decides to reassign addresses to all of the machines on the network for reasons that I can't figure out. So, then the address that used to point to the webserver doesn't any more and port 80 is no longer forwarded.

What's the best way around this? Set up a static address for the webserver and forward that? The worry with this is that you have to setup the DNS servers and if they are ever moved (and DHCP is bumped to reset them to all of the DHCP assigned machines), then I'll miss this. Is there a more elegant way to permanently assign a DHCP assigned IP address to a specific machine on the Linksys router?

Thanks

PM,

I assume that you are simply forwarding port 80 to the LAN address of your webserver? IE: 192.168.1.xxx? If so, just give it, and it alone, a static IP and you'll be fine.
