Thanks to all those that helped me here, I finally got both of my computers to recognize their nics(linksys lne100tx), so I installed the drivers and rebooted. I hooked up the rj45 cable from computer A to my router(linksys befsr41). Hooked up a second rj45 from computer B to router. After I clicked on network in the control panel to configure tcp/ip.
Under the ip addresses I put 192.168.1.2 for computer A and 192.168.1.3 for computer B. The subnet mask I wrote in 255.255.255.0 for both of them. In the Identification tab next to computer name I wrote computer a for computer A and computer b for computer B. For work group I put Home for both of them. Reboot and I should have a working LAN. Well when I go to network neighborhood, in computer A I see only computer A under entire network. In computer B I only see computer B under entire neigborhood. Can anybody help me and tell me where I went wrong?
P.S. I am running zone alarm on computer A

You have to enable file and printer sharing in network neighborhood. Then share the drives for the network by right clicking each drive, choose sharing and follow prompts.
