Setting up network

I recently added a new computer to my network which has been working fine previously. I got my new computer in the network, and my laptop. The original computer will not format in with the wizard. I get a message that there was an error installing network settings. I now have printer sharing, but I can't get file sharing to work. I am using windows xp pro.

Just to be clear, it is my main computer that will not format. I can share files between my new one and my laptop, but not my main one.

I am still having problems. First of all the connection on my laptop died...says cable is unplugged, but I checked several dif. connections and they are all good, must be a board problem. My two desktops which are networked, I can see "My Network Places"..all pcs show up on the file, but I can shared from computer 2 to computer 1, but not vice/versa. I tried to run network wizard on computer 1 and I always get there was an error in the installation, try manual setup.

HELP!!!!

OK,

I did enable simple file sharing from my only drive in computer 1 and it works. However, transferring files from com. 2 to com. 1 is awfully slow. Why is this? I am able to transfer from my computer to my external drive really fast.
