Setting up network with wireless dsl/cable router

I don't have dsl or cable at this time, but will within the next year. I need to setup a network but don't know If I can use the dsl/cable router for the network even though I don't have broadband connection.
 
you can use the wireless router to set up your network.
If you get everything going OK, you can also disable DHCP on the router, turning it into a switch/Wireless Access Point (WAP). Then you can use windows ICS to share your dailup. It can be a pain to get going, but will work till you get the broadband.
