setting up my RAID

is there any performance increases/decreases if I put both drives I want raided in raid 0 on the same channel? (one master one slave). Is there any decrease performance wise if I do it this way rather than each drive as a master on it's own channel?

Yes, and it's not because each drive is fighting for bandwidth, but rather they are "taking turns" transmitting data. Because the interface can carry much more data than the hard drives can write at once, you will still see a performance increase (Mostly because the hard drives have their own cache memory).

I don't know when will ppl realize a RAID array will only benefit speedwise if the two hdd are on two different channel. Actually, a RAID set up on the same channel is worse than a single hdd.

"Actually, a RAID set up on the same channel is worse than a single hdd"

Well, Jiggz, according to that logic a 4 drive RAID 0 array would be slower then a 2 drive array, right?
Assuming u have a controller with two IDE channels that is.

Well, that isn't correct, so there must be something wrong with the logic applied here...
