Setting up my moms router and me not there?

How can I remotely get into my moms router settings from where I live? She's having some issues. Or is it even possible. I heard it was a long time ago.

Depends on the router. Some can be managed remotely, but this feature is typically NOT turned on by default (for good reason). You'll need to know the router version and maybe look up the user's guide on the internet, and walk your Mom through enabling it. After you enable it, it's just a matter of browsing to your Mom's external IP address and logging into the router.

Not every Router has this feature.

If it does has remote control feature, it need to be set ahead in order to be ready for be remotely controled.

Example on Netgear Router.
------------------------------------------------
Turn Remote Management On

Remote Management Address:
64.171.220.155:8080

The above means that the feature was turned On, that the router is currently on the external IP address as seen above, and that the port assigned to the remote manger is 8080.

If you connect over the Internet to: http://64.171.220.155:8080 you should get the Router (do not try it is a fake number).
