Setting up my 401K

I need to select my initial fund allocation. It looks as though all the funds have some sort of management fees. Is a fee of .50% or .75% expected and okay? I certainly don't want any of the 2% fee funds. With a 401K can I select to invest in individual stocks instead of funds?
