I've bought a 32" LCD tv. Yay. So, I hooked it up using a DVI to HDMI converter. In general I can play any content I want on my TV just fine. I also want to game on it though, or, game on my 20" 1680*1050 monitor, and use my LCD tv for MSN or just browing the web when I'm bored ingame. BUT, when I play AoC for example, and want to to do something else on the other screen, it 'alt-tabs' and leaves the game.

I don't want that, I want to do both things at the same time. It's set up as Dualview. Is this simpy inpossible? Or am I overlooking something?

The screen is also SLIGHTLY overstretched, so the top and the bottom fall off. Even when I set the resolution at 1368*760.

Last problem, using the LCD tv is making my monitor FLICKER, like some kind of electrical interference. The flickering stops when I unplug the HDMI connection from the TV. Switching DVI ports didn't help either.

My experience of dual monitors goes back as far as the Ti4400 and 9800Pro days so its very sketchy. It was pre-TV too so I have no advice re-HDMI or DVI to HDMI.

I am sure what you are wanting is simply impossible with certain games. I think certain games will "close down" when you alt-tab or click on your "other monitor". Bear in mind that this data is possibly outdated.

For your "Slightly overstretched" screen, make sure you SET your TV to the correct aspect ratio, for me this was 16:9 for 1280x720/1920x1080 otherwise it will not fit properly. If this poses a problem, you should be able to use a feature called Overscan (stretch the screen) or Underscan (shrink the screen) to fit it all correctly. Custom resolutions could also solve it but they are a last resort.

Action for this problem should be taken in this order:

1) Set your aspect ratio on your TV correctly (Solved my overscan problems with my 8800GT)
2) Use the Overscan/Underscan utility (Solved my underscan issue with my HD4870)
3) Custom resolution (never tried but I guess it could work)

As for your flicker, I am unsure. Perhaps fiddling with refresh rates could stabilise it but I feel this solution is rather treating the symptoms than dealing with the cause. Someone may be able to provide more advice here.

Personally, in AoC I prefer windowed view which allows silky smooth alt-tabbing. Yahoo Messenger chat windows can sit on top of AoC and I can see whats going on (just in case someone sneaks up on me). This however kills any sound in AoC until you focus back on AoC.

Iv heard that AoC has a few problems trying to get it to work on dual monitors. something about no window mode or not being able to alt-tab.
Couple youtube videos of dual monitor for AoC that might help.
