Setting up @Home internet on Linux

Using Mandrake 7.1 how do I do it?

I'm in Brampton, Ontario, Canada using Rogers@Home. How would I go about setting up an internet connection on Linux?

Your main problem would be setting up your NIC... @Home usually give out cheap NICs, which doesn't work well with Linux (cuz of lack of drivers)... So try and get your NIC to work...

Once you do that, it's simply a matter of typing in the IP, Netmask, DNS, etc... info @Home give you and it should work properly...

I tried out Linux (caldera 2.2) using my Rogers@home service (in Ontario). The nic was no problem as linux auto detected it and i just entered my static IP info that it wanted and it worked fine.

When ya are installing Mandrake choose the advanced install and choose to install the DHCP It should set everything up for ya. It did on mine... Inless your using the usb adapter which I don't think can work at all on a linux box..

Actually the cheap NICs (from @Home, and in my area anyway) work fine. DEC chips, they detect correctly as a Tulip or Tulip derivative everytime I install Redhat..
