setting up folders/directories on SERV-U FTP

someone good with FTP set-up... please help me with this.

Suppose I have a user who needs access files in both the 'computer' and 'here' folders:

c:\folder\on\the\computer

d:\another\folder\here

If I set-up the root directory to point to 'c:\folder\on\the\computer', how do I get the 'here' folder to show up when they log in using a program like Leech or warFTP? Access has been granted for each, but the only files & folders that show are the ones located below the root.

The 'here' folder should be listed with a folder icon with an arrow through it.

Someone.... anyone?

I'm not sure how to do it, but if they manually change the DIR to c:\ or D:\ it shoudl automatically take them to the shared folder.

yea... I know they can manually change the directory. 🙁

I know visiting certain FTPs, some of the folders have an arrow on them, like here (the sys folder)

hmmmm???

anyone else

make shortcuts to whatever folders you want and put them in the root folder. Easy and clean for erasing parts of your FTP if you change your format. Make sure you set permissions for the folder the shortcuts are pointed to.

I use Serv U and this method works nicely 😎

It's not working....

even when the user has permissions to view the contents of the folder, the shortcut folder is not visible 🙁

did you give permissions to the original folders? hmmm do you have "inherit" checked for your root folder?
