Ok so I am a noob on the firwire topic. I have searched the internet but can't seem to find much on firewire so I have come to anandtech for help as you all are the best source of info I have come to find. I have a DELL laptop that does not come equipped with firewire. My desktop has firwire and I am trying to connect the two for file sharing. I do a lot of editing of large audio/video files and firwire seems to be the way to go in transferring files between desktop and laptop. So I need some suggestions please: A how to approach?

I doubt thta on a alp top Firewire would yield better result than regular Ethernet.

Most Laptop come with Network card, it would make more sense to get a network card for the desktop (if it does not have one) and configure normal Network.

Or get a USB2 direct transfer cable/module (option 3 here, http://www.ezlan.net/direct.html )
