setting up dual boot XP and linux on compaq armada m700

Have anyone tried this on a notebook? i know XP will install fine but what about linux? any trouble spots with install, i.e. graphics card, modem, dvd player, etc. compatibility issue.

any help is much appreciated. thanks.
