Setting up DirectAccess/RAS

Hi AT - I have some questions about setting up DirectAccess. I have a technet subscription, for the time being at least! 🙁🙁🙁 and therefore access to both Server 2012 and W8 Enterprise and want to learn how to deploy and use DA as on paper it looks incredibly useful. Be warned, I am not an IT Pro - just a dude with some software licenses and curiosity, so don't assume I know stuff that would be obvious to a real sysadmin.

I have:
1x Router (Cisco RV220w) configured presently to provide DHCP/DNS.
1x Desktop hosting my VM lab (runs W8 Enterprise). Only one wired NIC.
1x notebook (W8 Enterprise, the test client)

My intent is to set up a Server 2012 VM using Hyper-V, configure it as PDC and DA server (so DNS and DHCP also...more questions on this later) and thus have remote access to all my files/network resources at home. Some things aren't really clear to me though:

1. Regarding DNS/DHCP...is there any way to set it up so that my router and the Svr2012 VM don't conflict? I'd just disable DNS/DHCP on my router, except that then there is nothing to resolve addresses for my Host PC...dhcp isn't a problem there as I could simply assign it a static IP, but what about DNS?
2. Regarding setting this up behind a router...the setup options for DA seem to all assume that the server is connected directly to the internet rather than behind any kind of router/switch. Is it possible to set it up behind a router at all, and if so, what would be required?
3. Will I need WINS?
4. Is there anything a traditional VPN setup offers that DA doesn't?

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot...my ISP won't give me a static IP, but I do have a dynDNS account! Does this change anything?
