Setting up DAC and speakers...

I have an Optoma NuForce uDAC5 digital/analog converter, and I have on order the Monoprice 5" powered speakers (2.0). I'm confused as to what specific cables I need.

The DAC ( https://www.optomausa.com/audioproduct/udac5 ) has left and right RCA's on the back and a headphone/headset jack on the front. The Monoprice speakers ( http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=115&cp_id=11504&cs_id=1150401&p_id=605500&seq=1&format=2 ) have two inputs, the 'TRS' and 'XLR'.

What specific cables do I need to make this work. Please include links.Thanks.

I'm confused, as my previous speakers (M-Audio AV40's) had RCA connectors, unlike the Monoprice pair.

And if I use those XLR to RCA cables, then what is connecting the two speakers together? The M-Audio speakers connected with regular speaker wire.

You're just connecting them to the DAC.

They're powered monitors so the power is coming from the wall, you plug the XLR ends into the speakers, then the DAC has RCA inputs, a Left channel (white) and a Right channel (red), just connect the left speaker to the left channel and right to right channel, your DAC connects to your PC via USB.

Your previous monitors (AV-40's) had both the left and right channel inputs on the left speaker, and then speaker wire running to the right speaker.
The advantage of this is you can have your DAC located somewhere out of the way more easily, as with the monoprice monitors your DAC needs to be located inbetween the two monitors (or you get one 3 foot cable and one 10 foot cable, or something like that)

Ah, I see, said the blind man... No, now I get it, finally.... sheesh. Thanks, and I appreciate your patience.

Have not used these speakers and DAC since @ 2018... hope I have this set up right... We'll see...
