Setting up cable in a new house problems.

Okay here is the problem: I am building a new house and we have only a few things left to do so there is sheet rock and floors but I still have electricity left to do and I was thinking that I should go ahead and put in the cable modem lines because I want to do everything right now. Here is the situation. So far I have a Coax (black cable with cable signal) in every room going up into my adic passing right around my computer room. There is no splitter or combiner and all of these cables go straight to the side of the garage where they are hanging outside to be worked on by cable people. I am not really good with this so: Do I need to combine those signals? What about boost them? Because I heard something about me needing a booster for the signal? What will these two options do to the signal strength. I plan on having one cable going into the computer into a cable modem and then into a router and then hub. i still want cable going to all the rooms for TV and stuff but what about combining them into one cable going outside or boosting the signal? Where does that put my max thouroughput? Quality of signal? I live in a very sparsely populated neighborhood so I don't think the cable modem sharing with the neibors is a problem and I don't have a DSL option anyway. So what does everyone think?

I see no reason to do the work at all. The only thing special about the outlet leading to a cable modem is that the tech will put a filter/tap on it to provide the correct signal level and filtering. They have to do that when they come out anyway so just let cable show up and set up the whole deal.

Seems like you want to have your house setup for a network. Since you still have a chance, I would suggest running Cat5 lines to all the rooms that you would like to have computer access from. Also, you should have a central location for your wiring closet where all of your jacks will be routed to your Hub and router.

Hope this helps...
