Setting Up Brand New System

Sorry, this is probably a generic question, but I just got a brand new laptop and the absolute first thing I want to do is install security software to protect it as best as possible before I start using it.

I have been out of the loop for a bit. What is recommended software?

Personally i'd use MSE and MBAM, and of course a firewall.

If you want to protect it as best possible, don't stop at security software, either. Here's my current suggested strategy: http://www.mechbgon.com/security That includes the Secunia PSI and Microsoft EMET utilities (both free), plus a couple ways to make it extremely difficult for an exploit payload to execute, even if it gets past your security software.

mechBgon I love Secunia PSI and Microsoft EMET. My problem is I can't get Secunia PSI to recognize one of my applications. Can never get Newsleecher to show up in the list with Secunia PSI. Why ? I don't get it. I tried adding it or requesting it but it still won't work. What is the problem ?
