Setting up AntiVir on a computer of mine...

Have a computer in my house with only 256 MB of RAM so I decided to put AntiVir on it instead of Kaspersky. But how in the world do you set the scheduler in this thing to do daily scans? And must I have TWO icons in my tray for AntiVir alone to have scheduled scans activated?

Why do you need to schedule a daily scan?

Just do a single complete scan, then leave it sitting in your tray for autoscan. Works great for me! :thumbsup:😀

Under the AntiVir Scheduler:

1) Click Insert (Start Antivir)
2) Click Schedule (choose the frequency, time, and date you want)
3) Click OK to add entry.

I just did this for a minute ahead and it worked just fine. Antivir loaded up and a virus scan was started.

I prefer having complete scans done daily. You never know if something slipped in undetected that is indeed a virus.

Thanks. I assumed that would just start the program but not actually start a scan.

Now, when I get on in the morning, is there any way to view the summaries from within the program? Or must I manully go open it in Notepad?

You should be able to go under Report --> Display Summary Report.....this will let you see each scan by date and the number of infections discovered. You'll probably have to open the log file if you want more detailed information.

If it's WindowsXP, you could right-click the Start Button, go to Properties, then the Taskbar tab, and click the Customize button for "Hide inactive icons" and tell it to always hide one or both of them.

True...too bad you have to do that, though.

I guess this program's okay. I just can't stand the crappy interface and 16-bit Windows 95 era pictures.

better than having a flashy, shiny user iterfaces that suck system resources and lags when you try to use it
