does anyone have any first hand knowledge of how i can setup a ftp site using windows xp and IIS?

While yes, you can use IIS to set up an FTP site, I really wouldn't do that. IIS stands fro It Isn't Secure. You can buy Bullet Proof FTP server (formerly G6 FTP) for 29.95 from www.bpftpserver.com. It is MUCH easier to set up and maintain.

I wouldn't use IIS... it's much bigger than what you need, and on XP Pro, you will be limited to 10 users at a time.
If you want to learn it anyway, take a night class at your local community college.

its not that hard, I have set it up on a few and it still works great. it uses the built in XP users/groups for ftp authentication which I think is nice..

as for telling you how to do it step by step, I couldn't remember but there should be an internet services or IIS link under administrative tools that takes you to the control panel to set everything up

yeah the thing is i had tried setting up one under w2k and it had a premade ftproot directory

and xp doesnt, also i'm not sure where to start it, or how to start it like the webpage hosting
