Setting up access controls for a school

I need some software (preferably free) that allows me to restrict computer access to our students. they are young kids and purposely wouldn't try to screw things up, but may do so inadvertently. basically, they should not be able to delete, modify, replace, any windows files. they shouldn't be able to change resolution, refresh rates, edit, remove drivers, etc. basically, they shouldnt be able to screw up the system too bad.

also, can you guys reccomend some good filtering software to filter out objectionable material?

Thanks

Key information needed: What OS are you talking about?

If it's Win9x/ME...good luck, you'll need it. (Virtually impossible to secure).
If it's NT/W2K/XP...set up a domain, and restrict all the student IDs to USERs on the desktops.

For filtering software, go to a p0rn site, and scroll down the welcome page 'til you find the section on how to block access to their site. 😉😱 At least, that's what I've heard! 😉

2 machines will be win98
2 machines will be xp home.

how do i up the restrictions in xp home, didn' tknow it could be done?

As far as blocking software, i'll make a nother thread about that. so far i think surmonkey is fail safe.

thanks for help
