Hey everyone I have a couple questions regarding setting up a windows home server. I am currently running a pc with win 7 ultimate and my wife has a mac running the latest osx. I have a spare pc in the closet I want to configure as a home server. My question is, can I have a WHS backup data from both my pc and her mac as well as stream media to both?

I forgot to include the server specs.
I have:

via p4m800 mobo
celeron d 340 (2.96ghz) cpu
1gb ram
radeon 9600 non pro
500 gig hd
250 gig hd

Do you think that setup will be enough to stream all my movies to my ps3 ok? What about HD rips? I am questioning whether it could transcode anything properly using ps3 media server.

When I originally built mine I used a ~2.0Ghz AMD Sparta single core and it didn't have enough juice to transcode HD via PS3MS. I had to upgrade it to a dual core. How that translates to the Celeron I don't have a clue but just my experience.

Ah awesome! I am reading through that thread now. Is it sad that I am excited to set this box up tomorrow when I am off work? I am really hoping the celeron d340 is enough boomhower the mobo I have can't handle much more of a processor and I am trying to keep the costs low as I am in the process of painting my truck.

I do not know any thing about "Transcode HD via PS3MS".

For any normal use + Regular streaming your hardware is more than adequate.
