Setting up a VPN to play Lan games over the net

I wanna play games like R6 and battlefiled to over th net with a friend but dont want to mess with all the logins and servers and client jnk, so is there some guide on how to setup a VPN to play a lan game

Easier said then done...

I will look for some kind of doc. for you... Either of you have an extra box to throw linux on?

I also need assistance in doing this. If I try to search for games in LAN mode it never finds anything, and I'm pretty much sure it's because the subnets are different (192.168.0.x / 192.168.1.x). Is there a way to make them find each other? So far I just use the Direct IP connect option available in most games, which is fine, but there are still several where this is not an option.

While we're on the topic, filesharing isn't working either. NetBIOS enabled, can't see any shares, other network names, computer names, etc. It works for me to do \\192.168.1.xxx\sharename though. Still, would like to simplify this.

I should clarify the VPN is setup router to router.

I don't think the connection would be able to use split tunneling....I suppose it would be possible, but the encryption overhead would likely make lag a biatch.

Don't know about router to router VPN or other third party software solutions, but the VPN built into WinXP Pro and Windows server products doesn't pass through some network browsing abilities. I once messed with this with a friend to try playing Starcraft and it would just not find the other game even though other network stuff like file sharing worked.
