Setting up a triple display on a Radeon 6870

My brother is letting me borrow his 1080p monitor and I want to get a triple display up and running. I have an XFX 6870 and I'd like some help picking a good, inexpensive active Displayport to DVI adapter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I don't know if it matters, but the resolution of the screens will be two at 1080p and one at 1680 by 1050 and I don't plan on gaming in Eyefinity. Will I still need an adapter to run this?

Well, for triple-screen without eyefinity, it would be cheaper to buy a 2nd video card for like $15 on Newegg after rebate. But, you could probably find the single-link active displayport adapter for under $30. I think it's Accel brand or something? Should be able to find it on Newegg.

Oh, but I highly suggest getting the adapter instead of a 2nd video card. I mean, if you have the adapter and extra monitor, you could just try eyefinity, just try it, just a little bit.

Well, a second video card would add heat and consume more power so it probably makes more sense to just get an adapter. And I might want to try Eyefinity which I can do at the lowest common resolution right?
 
That's the full-sized displayport, does your video card have that size or does it have the mini displayports? Maybe your card came with a mini-to-regular-size displayport adapater so you could use that.

Eyefinity will find the common resolutions that all monitors will support, so it will work even with mixed monitors and you don't have to use three of the same monitors.
 
I just tried playing Anno 2070 with two displays and it's mindblowing! I def need to get three displays and give it a try.
 
I've found that the Sapphire mini-DP to DVI adapter works best for me.
No drop-outs at all (one at the office with an XFX 6950 1GB, one at home with a Sapphire 6950 2GB).
 
For Eyefinity one monitor has to be run off of displayport. You'll likely need a mini displayport adapter like THIS (Cheapest one I could find). Most AMD cards don't have full size DP.
 
I'm about to buy an Achieva Shimian, but I still haven't decided on whether I'm going to upgrade the video card. If I get a 7950 I can run all three monitors, 2 on the 7950 and 1 on the 6870. I'm really torn on whether I should get this adapter if I'm just going to get a 7950 so soon.

Edit: Can I use the integrated graphics on my Z68 board and my 6870 at the same time to power 3 monitors without the active displayport adapter?
