Setting up a simple network

Right now I run one computer with a Linksys BEFCMU10 cable modem. I would like to setup a simple network now - one wired desktop, and one wireless laptop. Both computers will only be sharing the internet connection over the network and nothing else, so I don't need any super fast spec. So should wireless-B be sufficient for my needs? I saw a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless-B router at Best Buy for only $5 after MIR. Should I go for this one for that kind of a price?

I've also been considering not even doing wireless, and just having the one wired desktop - I'm thinking I may not go online with the laptop too much. In that case, should I just pick up the cheapest wired router on Newegg? Or go with a known brand, like Netgear, for $29.99 after MIR?

Well my two questions are, 1) Should I go with that BEFW11S4 if I want to go wireless, and 2) If I don't want to go wireless, should I get the cheapest router on Newegg, or go with a Netgear wired router for $29.99 after rebates? The cheapest on there is negative 1 cent after rebates.

Get the linksys wireless router. They are cheaper than wired routers lately it seems. You can always turn the wireless off.

Yes but I'm hearing so much about the disconnection issues, even with the latest firmware. Even IF this routers pays ME money for buying it after rebates, I still don't want to hate it and have to pay for two routers upfront now.

Take my chances with the cheap Linksys or get a Netgear wired on Newegg or a D-Link wired on Newegg?

It is a little hard to give advice.

It is your call their is not really taking a big chance with a $5 piece of hardware.

Getting a Wired Router for $30 after reabte is like going backward for three years.

May be this can Help: http://www.ezlan.net/faq#wiredrouter

FWIW, a lot of those connection issues I have seen involve bittorrent or other filesharing protocols, and only on the wireless connections. I don't use wireless for any serious file storage or major transfers, it just does not make sense when compared to 100mbit wired network connections. If I had a lappy and need to move a large file, I'd go plug it into the router directly.
If you are talking about the occaisional smallish transfer and surfing, get the cheapest wireless you can. If you want to have some mega-huge home AV wireless setup, then get a good 54G.
