Setting up a network printer?

I've got 2 machines connected to the net via Linksys BEFSR41 router. One upstairs, one downstairs. There is a printer connected to the one upstairs and i'd like to be able to use it from the machine downstairs. How do i do this?

Right click the printer's icon on the computer upstairs and click "sharing". Then click share as and name it something. Click ok.

On the downstairs computer, click add printer -> network printer. Then browse the network for it. Double click it and it should do the rest for you.

Buy a router with a print server built in.

i got one of those, but the gay thing wont work.....

you have to:

1) Install the print server drivers on each computer which you wish to use the printer on.
2) Install the printer drivers on each computer which you wish to use it on.
3) You need to make sure the port for the printer on all of the computers is configured as. "PTRMate (Or whatever your print server software names it)" and also you want to make sure you have the IP to the router correct.

It may seem complicated, but I've done it so many times on my computers that I can do it in my sleep 🙁
