setting up a DSL modem/router and a router...please help

ok, got a ADSL modem/router box from sprint (model number escapes me) but it only has one lan port. originally i was going to go with cable, and use a router behind the cable modem, which ive done before and is quite easy enough to set up.

but, im little more than a network n00b, and when sprint sent me the stuff i expected a DSL modem and some filters/splitter (not having used dsl before)
what i got was a DSL Router. a modem with a router built in, great, but it has one lan port and ive got multiple pcs. the router i have is a dlink di-604. i wont get to set stuff up until monday, but how am i going to need both these routers set up so i can use the dlink as a firewall/switch (possible??? only halfway through the manual) and i guess the dsl router as...whatever else my network will need.

no idea where to start, ive thought about disabling DHCP on the dlink and going from there, but until my dsl connection is activated monday im at a stand still on how to set things up, id really appreciate some input from anyone who has gone through this or somehting similar before, i know there are some serious networking people around here

thanks!

Assuming the DSL router has the features in a firewall that you need, you can always get a cheap hub/switch to put behind it to plug your PC's into. If not, use your DLink and disable the stuff that would be redundant on the DSL box.

dsl router doesnt have the firewall
what services aside from dhcp would i be best disabling to use the router as a switch behind the dsl router? 🙂
