I had a project I wanted to create for the longest time: creating a DIVX station for my living room t.v.

Problem was that I would have to use a wire the house with 300ft of cables and such, whcih can be tedious.

Well, I got the idea of using a wireless audio/video trasnmitter. Buy.com has some transmitters, 2.4ghz but go for around $90 bucks.

Man, why didn't i think of this before? Anyways, i was wondering if you guys knew of other places that might sell it for cheaper?

you won't have any control over the movies, you'll have to just turn it on from your PC and run to the TV to watch it heh. You could make a small PC and create a wireless network...

Yeah, I'd go for a small PC, like SFF, and just do a wireless network.

Yeap, that's what i'm planning to do! But probme is that my router's signal won't go that far. i bought a range extender, d-link, but it doesn't seem effective. Regardles, i plan on buying the wireless a/v system. it is gonna be sweet!

What makes you think a Wireless Audio/Video system would go further then Wireless Data system (both use 2.4Ghz). Also, the quality will be pretty low.

Did you try a directional signal amplifier? Those can go for hundreds of feet.

The best option is to put a small/cheap computer right by the TV, and hook it up either wired, or wireless.
