Ok, I'm sure this questions has been answered before by my search of the past networking topics turned up no fruit, so here is my situation...
I just bought a netgear MR814 4-port wireless 802.11b router. I got this at the same time as buying my fiance a new IBM thinkpad with a d-link wireless card. Before you go off I am perfectly happy with only 11mbs because all we do on the network will be to trade mp3's ocasionally.
Anyway, speaking of files... I got the new laptop working just fine on the wireless network (man, sitting on the john and surfing the web is wonderful
) She has an old gateway laptop running win98. I need to share her old files so I can copy them to the new one. I enabled file sharing under 98 and installed all the protocolls but I still can't see the old comp from the new one. Now I know that you can't access a NTFS comp from a FAT32 as is the case here, but in the past I have had no problems going the other way, so I don't think that is the problem. We are both in the same workgroup (named "Home", gotta love the originality).
Ok, so thats the problem. I would love any advice on how to get these two talking. It can even be a temp solution like somehow patching the two directly together but I have no experiance in that arena. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this,
