setting the small pins on mobo for case LEDs and switches

I've built several PCs in the past and it's always been a crapshoot as far as reversing the pins (+/-)... for example if the HDD LED is on backwards, the LED won't work though everything else about the PC is fine. Well I just threw an A7V board into an old case and plugged the pins according to the mobo markings which isn't very accurate, but I did it anyway... well it won't power on at all... no beeps, no spin-up, no sound at all - nothing from the power supply... as if the power button wasn't connected to anything. Tried the PWR Switch pin plugged both ways... and I can't find the A7V manual online anywhere (help?) ...

Is it a bad power supply or am I messing up the pins ? Any other ideas ?

thx for the link. Turns out I had the top row switched with the bottom row according to the manual. The markings on the mobo are difficult to read. Anyway, I'm posting from the new machine now. Thx again.
